Booker by MINDBODY is a cloud-based booking solution that provides businesses in cosmetics and wellness industry such as spas and salons, tools, which help them to manage their booking routines, payments, customer interactions and marketing activities. Key features include a built-in scheduler, social media booking, integrated point of sale (POS) functionality, email marketing, customer surveys and more. Booker features credit card processing, gift certificates, e-commerce capabilities and can also accept mobile payments from the customers. The solution integrates with websites such as Yahoo, Bling, Yellow Pages, SuperPages and more that allows users to advertise their open appointments. Additionally, Booker offers customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities, employee scheduling tools, a business intelligence (BI) dashboard and features inventory management, customer loyalty programs and a reporting engine. Mobile functionalities for remote access are also provided by the solution. Services are offered on a monthly subscription basis that includes support via phone, email and other online resources.

Book It!

Avantages

Booker is a godsend for so many salons. It is very user-friendly and they have implemented the use of embedded training videos for all the features; this is a wonderful tool and works very well for people who are visual learners, which most stylists happen to be. For salon managers and owners, Booker offers a variety of tools: time-clock, sales tracking, inventory, tip allocation, expenditures/budgets, etc. Being a web-based software, it's very easy to add a widget or embed a link on your website and/or Facebook page to allow customers to easily schedule themselves for services. In addition, there is a built-in point of sale system that makes it easy to check out clients without needing to switch over to another program and/or system.

Inconvénients

The downside to being a web-based software: if the server is down or there is an issue with the website, you cannot access your calendar or your point of sale system. Booker has been awesome enough to provide a separate website where they allow you to report issues of the system being down and also announcing known issues. Their customer service makes up for this issue.

Using it for our Med Spa

Booker does what we need, support has always been responsive and it is easy to use.

Avantages

Ease of use so, easy to train. In the Day Spa industry front desk turnover is frequent so it is nice to be able to quickly show a new gal how to use the system.

Inconvénients

We were previously Salon Iris customers and I am a programmer. With access to the database on that system I could run queries on anything in the database. Booker does not provide access to the SQL database so that is not possible. I do however have all of the reports that I need.

Also, it would be nice to have the ability to set access a little more granular. For example, if I give a gal access to look at gift card balances, I will also have given her access to modify gift card balances.

Overall a good product

It’s a good product that finally reached maturity with all the recent updates.

Avantages

They’ve been doing a lot of upgrades over the past year.

Inconvénients

Not always designed with practicality in mind.

Run away. Pick a different software

Disastrous.
Software routinely down for "maintenance". Booker deletes our client data and claims they haven't -- yet, client data is missing for all 958 clients for this year alone (2021).
Booker software doesn't allow duplicates to be merged without hours of attempts.
Booker forces clients to have a unique email when scheduling online -- makes it impossible for families that use a shared email (think parent scheduling for the children).

Avantages

Friendly install/setup team. Friendly customer help staff.
You are able to write your own descriptions for services to be scheduled through online portal.

Inconvénients

Unable to download a full backup of our data. -- even though the Agreement says you, the business, own your data, and are entitled to a FULL copy of all your data. Booker tech support have indicated in writing that they don't know how to provide its clients with a copy of their data, and have no intent of treating this as an important requirement.

Good but customer support is lacking.

Avantages

Very easy to use and customize. Easy to access from anywhere.

Inconvénients

Expensive and lots of down time. Expensive for adding more features. Lots of reporting issues but customer service isn’t helpful
