Add-ons (which are almost mandatory for good reporting or test management) double the cost. For software development teams with dedicated PMs and a Jira admin, it’s unbeatable. Tracking sprints, bugs, features, and technical debt all in one place gives visibility that spreadsheets can’t match. The automation rules (auto-assign, transition on commit, etc.) save hours weekly. However, for non-technical stakeholders (designers, content creators, external clients), it’s overkill. They need Trello or Asana. Forcing everyone into Jira creates friction, not productivity. We’ve used it for 4+ years across rendering pipelines, game dev, and enterprise web apps. It never lost data, never corrupted a project, and always gave us an audit trail.
