What I liked the most is its ease of use and its accessibility at any time and place. I can access my project plans from any device and estimate quickly and accurately and having the library of pre-built materials is a huge plus as it saves me time by using up-to-date prices and quantities.

Inconvénients

The initial learning curve can be a bit steep. Although the software is intuitive and easy to use once you get the hang of it, navigating all the available features and options can be overwhelming at first.

Avantages

The fact that the takeoff and estimating software is all in one. The automatic pricing allows you to quickly get accurate data that can be customized. The software gives construction professionals the option to be as transparent as they want to be with their data. Clients of mine have won many projects that they weren't the lowest bid, because their customers can see exactly what is included. This gives people faith that they are working with honest contractors that will not change order them by bidding low just to secure the work.

Inconvénients

The BNI features that were included in the upgraded price do not reflect what was advertised by the sales staff when purchasing the software. Needs a lot of work especially in the assembly area.

Easy to use. Support is knowledgeable and not a call center.

Jacked the price up 50% after the first year. Then when we decided to go to another program and cancel our subscription Stack locked us out of all our estimates and held it for ransom. Very un-ethical. Not a reputable company.

Small tweaks such as being able to move the plan selection pane to not block the tabs of open plans. Also, a better clouding edit that allows for free-form shapes and that stays where placed when exporting or printing.

Avantages

The simplicity of the takeoff software is great. A new user can be comfortable with the whole program in just a few weeks of use. The tools are powerful and intuitive to use.

Inconvénients

Sometimes the simplicity has its drawbacks. Wouldn't mind more flexibility in symbol size and shapes.

Avantages

Cloud-based estimating is very efficient, particularly with remote employees. Despite the fact that our previous software was linked to a cloud-based drive, it just didn't have the same speed and agility that a true web-based program has. The learning curve was pretty easy. I love that suggestions are taken right through the program and are seriously considered in future updates. It's nice to see the improvements that Stack is working on.

Inconvénients

My biggest issue is that sometimes it can run a bit sluggish when working with huge document sets. This is a dream, but I wish somehow there could be an "off-line" mode that downloads then uploads the data to enable working from areas with no internet (project sites, airplanes, meetings, etc.).

Avantages

Highlighting for takeoffs is fairly simply and straightforward to use. Feature updates are becoming more consistent. Don't use it for much else at this stage.

Inconvénients

Too many variables in our trade for the estimate generating side to be any better than the system we already use; would need a higher degree of customization to get there.

Avantages

STACK frequently rolls out new features and appears to genuinely value user feedback. Within the first week of use, I was able to develop a totally unique library of components and assemblies, and I've been happy with the takeoff procedure

Inconvénients

It does not have as many integration options as some other services.

Avantages

STACK essentially eliminated a step in my takeoff and pricing process. Having a takeoff software with a well-integrated "spread sheet" has drastically reduced the time needed for bidding. STACK seems to truly value customer feedback, and routinely releases new features. I was able to build out a completely custom library of items and assemblies within the first week of use, and have been quite satisfied with the takeoff process ever since.

Inconvénients

There is still room for improvement:Once items or assemblies are created, there is no ability to move them to a new location. I currently use the "linear with drop" takeoff as a means to count corners/miters for linear foot takeoffs, which is not it's intended use. I have to enter a "drop length" every time, which is not applicable for these takeoffs. A "linear with point count" takeoff would be great.

Avantages

Having everything with the takeoff and estimating process all in one place makes stack stand out from the competition. I can take plans, to an estimate all in one place

Inconvénients

The set up process everything feels a little tedious, but it all functions very well.

Avantages

Using the takeoffs, items, and assemblies I am able to create accurate proposals and deliver them in a timely manner. This has increased my efficiency in immeasurable ways. Takeoffs that took me multiple days to finish by hand are now able to be completed in a couple hours.

Inconvénients

When working on large projects, sometimes the system gets laggy. It only happens with the largest plans I deal with, when there are dozens of takeoffs being measured.

Avantages

I love the ease of navigation. Everything is clearly labeled and easy to access.

Inconvénients

Stack seems to be a little out dated as far as how it operates. It seems like more features could be automated.

The guy I hired to do take-offs used stack at his last job so it was easy for him to pick up where I left off on take offs

The cost of he product is high but it does pay for itself

Avantages

The takeoff part of STACK is what we mainly use, I think in the future we may utilize more of its features but we're more than satisfied with the software. We would most certainly not have the capability to produce takeoffs with such ease and accuracy without STACK, we're completely sold on this feature.

Inconvénients

Although I love the takeoff feature, the process of creating, organizing, and editing my library is too long. I have been unable to figure out a way to duplicate items and assemblies and edit them to expedite the process. If it was one trade that'd be easy but we take on various scopes of work and each one has unique line items.

Avantages

What I like most about STACK is the reporting feature. Once I perform a takeoff and run the report I can see quantities and weights of the steel on the project. It speeds up the entire estimating process.

Inconvénients

My least like is the cloud based system. I know everything is cloud based now, but when there is an internet outage or I am on location without signal or WIFI I don't have access to the info.

It is incredibly easy to use. I have been using it for a little over a year but my company has used it for several. It was not difficult to learn how to use.

I'm an old scale and printed out drawing guy. Stack took me a little longer to use mostly getting it set up for my biz. Once that is done its very easy even for a caveman.

I don't use all the tools available to me. I'm sure there is shortcuts even to what I do now. Finding time to learn the new stuff is difficult

The pros of Stack are that it was very easy to understand and I learned how to use it very quickly. There are also plenty of resources for you to receive help if needed. I use it everyday.

Inconvénients

Cons are very minimal if any. For me, I would say maybe is making organizing the takeoff a little bit simpler. Possibly reduce the steps it takes to group takeoffs together.
